"I Saw Brittney Do Drugs"

Now that she's safely ensconced within the confines of a treatment center in Malibu, acquaintances are coming out in droves claiming they've witnessed Britney Spears' drug use.

For the first time, people who know Britney are speaking on the record about her drug use from as far back as 2003.

"When I was around her, she took Ecstasy," Amanda Alexander, the sister of Britney's first husband, Jason, tells In Touch Weekly. Amanda, 21, says she also witnessed the singer using cocaine in their hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana.

Another hometown friend, Kent Smith, who's known Britney for "at least 10 years," says he partied with her three years ago at Club 360 in New Orleans. "She does like to party," Kent tells In Touch. "I've been there when she's done Ecstasy and cocaine."

Toward the end of her marriage to Kevin Federline, a major stoner, Britney returned to using hardcore drugs.

According to a pal, the couple got into a huge fight on the night of his CD release party last Halloween. "Kevin was mad because he knew she was high on coke," a source tells In Touch.

"The divorce really threw her into a deep depression," says a friend. "She felt like a failure and wanted to show everyone how desirable she still is."

In addition to the cocaine and ecstasy, Spears was also drinking heavily and taking lots of prescription pills, like Paxil (an antidepressant) and Xanax (for anxiety).

Unfortunately, the partying overtook the parenting. "So many people love Britney," an insider says. "They're all in crisis mode." Her mom has resorted to tough love, even taking away her credit cards while her dad, Jamie, a recovering alcoholic, is also "trying to get her on track," says a pal.

Thankfully, for now, Britney is on the right track and in rehab.

Hopefully she will use this time away from the spotlight wisely, unlike certain other celebrity rehabers.

Brit's Hair -- A Lock on E-Bay

Brittney's $20 haircut may have been on the house, but the salon where the fallen pop princess chopped off her locks is cleaning up big time.

The owners say they saved every strand of Brit's hair and plan to peddle it on eBay. "We will probably auction it off for charity," co-owner JT Tognozzi tells E! Online.

And that's not the only way the salon is raking in the dough. The owners admit they are now charging $200 a pop to get the "Brit Buzz Special."

Salon Owner Says Brit's Stunt Was for Publicity

Esther Tognozzi, owner of the salon in Tarzana where Brittney speared her hair on Friday, gave a call-in interview this morning to Los Angeles' 102.7 KIIS FM's On Air with Ryan Seacrest. Esther told Ryan Seacrest that Britney's hairtastrophe could have been a publicity stunt.

Tognozzi claims that she had closed the blinds so that no one would see Brittney's meltdown, and yet pictures that surfaced from paparazzi agencies are all so clear -- it's as if the photogs were in the shop, which Esther insisted was not the case. When asked if bodyguards had opened the blinds, her response was, "I think so."

Did K-Fed Push Brittney Spears to Rehab?

Britney Spears got so K-Fed-up with her soon-to-be ex-husband that she shaved her head – and then headed to rehab, sources say this morning.

The pop princess checked into Promises in Malibu yesterday, but the head-first slide that landed her there started, says OK! magazine, with a furious phone fight with Kevin. "Kevin threatened Britney that he was going to have people test her hair to find out exactly what she's been up to," says a mag source, leading to Britney's well-documented shear madness.

Us magazine, on the other hand, says that over dinner a few nights ago, Brit's dad Jamie made a desperate plea for her to get help, and convinced her to go to Promises, which has rehabbed such stars as Robert Downey, Jr., Diana Ross, and Matthew Perry.

Above is the first picture of Britney inside rehab was posted by That Other Blog which also reported that Extra has confirmed that pop princess Britney Spears checked into rehab late Tuesday morning at the urging of her concerned family and friends.Britney is seeking help at Malibu’s exclusive treatment facility, Promises.

Promises founder Richard Rogg told us that patients are at a very low point when they seek help.

“You have to hit a mental, spiritual, emotional kind of bottom,” Rogg said. “It’s that place where you are too afraid to go on living and too afraid to die.”

This breaking news comes just days after Britney shaved her head, and on Monday, Extra discovered new clues that may explain why Brit gave herself a buzz cut.

OK! Weekly has revealed that Kevin and Britney had a huge argument. “Kevin threatened Britney that he was going to have people test her hair to find out exactly what she’s been up to. She was so scared. That was what made her have her head shaved.”

Brittney Back in Rehab

Brittney Spears is back in rehab. Sources say the singer has checked into an in-patient facility in Los Angeles. We're told the move came after family members, including her mom, pressed her to check in.

Spears entered the facility today. A rep for the singer told PEOPLE "Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today. We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."

Last week, Spears checked herself into a rehab facility in Antigua but checked out less than 24 hours later.
